The leather bomber jacket is a very popular item of outdoor clothing and has been for several decades now. Its roots go back to before the Second World War but the flight jackets, as they were then also known, were quickly
adopted by the British and American Air Forces.
       Pilots started wearing them as they headed out on bombing raids, hence the name bomber jacket.

In fact many design changes have been made to leather jackets to meet the needs of modern women.

       Sometimes you might see a cropped jacket for the ladies or even hooded jackets, which look stylish but offer practicality in wet and windy weather.

       It seems there are many variations on the traditional leather bomber jacket theme available to women, even to the colors. Most of these jackets would normally have been brown, black or dark green given they were designed initially for the military.
       This austere look has changed in recent years so that other colours are available such as lighter shades of brown or red.

       Ladies aren’t restricted to one shade of the same color either as the reds for example may come as a bright vibrant colour or perhaps a more sophisticated maroon shade. During the spring you may also see women wearing lightweight leather jackets in bright yellow, pink or turquoise colours. Clearly not colors you would normally associate with men’s jackets, but people have different tastes and not all gentlemen wear black or grey.

       Jackets may also be embellished with studs to provide yet another look. These can be purchased ready made or a creative person may like to decorate a plain leather bomber jacket to suit their own tastes.
       There are so many options for ladies and even men to a lesser extent when it comes to buying a bomber jacket.
