The Many Varieties Of Men's Bomber Jacket

For over seventy years there has been one form or another of men's bomber jacket which has been popular.
This has been in either the traditional brown leather bomber jacket, or the less traditional black cloth bomber jacket. To look at the different styles which have been born out of this style, it is fair to look at the original first.
This throws light on why the style of wearing leather bomber jackets became stylish in the first place.

During the 1940s, the American Air Force was one of the mightiest fighting forces in the world.
Those who served were honored for their ability to protect the soldiers who were on the ground. This made the bombers an especially revered crowd.
The Air Force began issuing the A-2 jacket to all who passed through flight school which caused the jacket to gain recognition. The immediate group of people who coveted the men's bomber jacket were other service members. They saw the prestige and the honor which was tied to owning one of these jackets.

Bomber Jackets Go Private

It was not too long until leather jackets for men in the private sector began to take on the style of the A-2.
While the civilian men's bomber jacket was not an exact replica of the ones worn by the military, they were still no less coveted. Those on the streets wore them with the same pride as an actual aviator.
Because men's leather jackets have always been highly valued, there is no surprise the jacket would then go
through many augmentations over the years.
The biggest change was when the style moved away from just mens leather jackets.

Today, you can see many different styles which are based on the men's bomber jacket.
These even include styles which are for women and children. They no longer have the traditional brown leather, or the silk lining. These jackets are made with adornments no aviator would ever be allowed to put on a jacket. They also have shapes which are designed more for flash than they are for functionality.
This alteration of the style has been felt in the creation of many of the leather jackets for men you have seen throughout time.

Motorcyclists Discover Bomber Jackets

The A-2 may have been the start, but the motorcycle jacket and the punk jackets were born from this style.
This has included the trend of adding pointed collars and multi-zippers to men's leather jackets. While the mens leather bomber jacket might have been the original motor- cycle jacket for guys like the “Fonz” and James Dean, it has completed changed in modern times.
Even the men's bomber jacket itself has gone through intense alterations to become what it is now.
The bomber jackets which are sold on the market today are much warmer than the jackets which were originally issued. This is not to say they last any longer.
There are many of the original A-2 jackets still being worn by those they were issued to and those they have been sold to.
While some people will frame their men's bomber  jacket, their rightful place is still to be worn.
